Pastor Marvin O. Nunn gave his life to Christ in his late teens and began his service for the Lord. He was groomed, trained and biblically taught by two of the finest examples; the late Bishop Shepherd Little, Founder and then Pastor of King of Glory Church of God in Christ, as well as the late Jurisdictional Prelate Bishop Louis H. Ford. He served in many capacities of the church including the Usher Board, the Maintenance Department, the Sunday School Department, and the Bus and Jail Ministry for more than 20 years. Marvin was also the Chaplain for the Deacon Board. The call to ministry came June 24, 1984 and his answer then and now continues to be “Yes Lord”. Pastor Nunn received certification and completion of church history and doctrine from the Charles H. Mason Bible Institute and was ordained in 1991. In 1995, Pastor Nunn was led to unite with the Evangelistic Crusaders Church where the Founder and Pastor was Elder George Liggins. He joined an auxiliary of the church called the Soul Winning Team. Here Pastor Nunn coordinated their annual outdoor Soul Winning Rally, organized all follow-up communication with male converts, visited the sick and shut-in and conducted the “Bible Book Series” for the “Catch Fire Adult Class.” In 1992, Pastor Nunn, while studying God’s word, read Luke 1:78, “Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us.” The Lord impressed upon his heart, the name Dayspring. At that time, all God had given was the name. Marvin knew to wait on the hand of the Lord to move. In January of 2002, the Lord spoke and he stepped out into God’s vineyard. On March 6, 2002 Dayspring Ministries COGIC, had its first Service and Meeting at his home. The Lord has allowed Dayspring to dwell in many facilities, but on September 20, 2011 Dayspring Ministries purchased the properties at 860 State Street, in Hammond Indiana. In July 2013, Pastor Nunn and Dayspring Ministries transitioned to the Illinois Midwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction under the Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop Darrell L. Hines. In January 2014, Pastor Nunn was appointed Superatindent of the newly formed Joshua District. In 2016 Superintendent Nunn received an honorary doctorate in Biblical studies and Masters in Counseling.
Pastor Nunn along with his wife of 38 years, Evangelist Cynthia Nunn, has traveled overseas, as far away as Sweden, Germany, and Paris, as well as in the United States. God has commissioned him to preach and teach the word of God to many races and denominations; knowing no barriers.
